NO VEHICLE LONGER THAN 10.5 METERS LONG BETWEEN 6PM AND MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAYS, PUBLIC HOLIDAYS, OR DAYS PRECEDING PUBLIC HOLIDAYS. DRIVERS OR ANYONE ASKING TO BE DRIVEN WILL BE PROSECUTED.
This used to exist in my country, too…I remember getting confused by one of these when I was four, right after I had learnt to read. Ours, however, was specifying one set of rules for “Friday or the first day of a public holiday” and another for “Sunday or the last day of a public holiday”.
This is a genuine sign and road traffic regulation from Botswana.
The road accident rate is spectacularly high and even worse at weekends/holidays when more people are a) piss-drunk in charge of their motor vehicles and/or b) travelling to their home villages.
By forcing all large trucks to stop at these times reduces the seriousness of the carnage.
“Cause to be driven” means the person who instructed the driver to drive can also be prosecuted, so beware owners of haulage companies…
AND “preceding” is spelled wrong. ;-}
that’s the most hideous traffic-prohibition-sign i’ve ever seen
What does this mean, “cause to be driven”. What, like dropping a brick on the accelerator?
It is like a Monty Python sketch that went awry.

The preceding sign exceeds the word limit. And preceding was spelled wrong. I hate this sign with all the passion I can muster.
“Cause to be driven”……….remote-controlled big rigs?
W…O…W!! Did it take up 2 signs or something, cuz it’s unfinished!
I think they should have to post a sign warning people not to try and read the first sign while driving. Too long signs=car accident
Worst…inconsistent use of serial comma.
It’s a monty python sketch!
Who made this sign? Yoda?? O_o
Let’s just replace it w/ the “Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch” speech and call it a day
