thats funny craig, i’ve lived in south africa most of my life, and only ever seen it at boulders. haven’t seen it at kruger, midmar, addo, or any of the other lodges, dams and parks managed by sanparks. i must tell them to make sure they warn everywhere of penguins, because you say it’s just their logo. and it should be everywhere, even on the sanparks website, don’t you think?
actually “craig” was referring to the question asking if that was a penguin embryo splitting part under the sign. Its a deer, and its just the “state park” logo.
So, to clarify: the deer-like thing is actually a Kudu, which is a type of antelope, and also the National Parks logo, and the penguins in question are located only at the coast, so no need for the sign at any other park.
And while it’s still a funny sign, it actually makes perfect sense. The penguins DO stray from the beach, and it’s shady under cars, so why wouldn’t they hide there on hot days?
The name at the top was probably simply enlarged to be read easily. It IS on the original sign, I was there and saw it so I can prove And yes, we did look under the car. Nobody wanted to kill an innocent creature
Heheh, the comments are funnier than the sign. There are indeed penguins in Africa, even without ice or snow. They do crawl under parked vehicles. They are only found at a few beaches near Cape Town, although I have seen one as far east as Stilbay.
The best part about this photo, is it looks like your car is being serviced by a team of penguin mechanics!
Is that a penguin embryo splitting into two?
it’s there for a reason. penguins do crawl under the cars in the car park at boulders beach, they can usually be chased out by blowing your hooter…
um.. thats just the National Parks-board logo…

“You didn’t see anything.”
@DW: Just what I was thinking! XD
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha you called a Kudu a deer
Also check your engine for gremlins and your backseat for zombies. One can never be too cautious in CrazyTown.
Are we playing hide and go seek?….. NOT IT!!!

Exactly.
Seriously? No one”’’s mentioning the clearly photoshopped name at the top?

I’VE BEEN THERE! I’VE BEEN THERE! That sign was hillarious
Nee is correct, makes perfect sense (Y)
Not photoshopped. Here’s the pic I took of the same sign last year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/awhite/3187693635/in/set-72157612441669470/
OMG i’ve seen this sign before and have a picture of it too
haha south africa <3
I have been there too, but only as a little kid so I don’t even remember it
I love how someone thought the NAME of all things was photoshopped. Seriously? Are you implying the place isn’t really called Table Mountain or what?
I’m gunna ask my dad if he remembers this sign, he went to visit SA about two years ago and went to Table Mountain.
There’s a similar sign at the Penguin Parade on Philip Island in Victoria, Australia.
Poor Rico…
